Let the Advent Season Begin

Grinch A Friend For Christmas

A traditional Christmas Eve includes as special offering to help our community in some fashion.  This year, Christmas Eve will be very different.  Instead of taking an offering, we have decided to have a bit of fun.  This year we have created four Grinch signs that will be placed around town inviting people to Grinch someone for Christmas.  With a donation to the Ministerial Emergency Fund, you can have these signs placed in their yard for a couple days.  Our goal is to spread a bit of Christmas cheer.  We know the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes once he recognized the true meaning of Christmas.  Help us bring a bit of the Grinch’s Christmas cheer to Maquoketa.  Call the church office to let us know who you want to Grinch.  All contributions can be mailed or brought to our church office.

Gifts that keep on giving

This Advent season, we will focus on the gift each of these words brings to our lives and the lives of others.  Every Sunday, during the sermon, you will see me unwrap a special gift that bring its own message of hope, love, joy, and peace.  Every Sunday during Advent you can pick up your gift at the sanctuary door between 1:00-2:00 for as long as t he bags last.  Our thought is that this gift will give you what you need to prepare your heart for this Christmas celebration.  But we hope you will keep this gift going by sharing with someone else your own gift of hope, love, joy, and peace.  Christ has given us so much, it’s time we give a bit back to God.  Let’s share God’s gifts with a world that needs a bit of hope, love, joy, and peace.

Merry Christmas!
